Commissioned to create an art piece for a hip new restaurant opening in downtown Denver, collaborator Joe Sipe and myself produced and installed these two rubber band sculptures. Playing off the restaurants name and theme, 'The Corner Office Martini Bar & Grill,' the premise for the project was to create something exciting and new out of everyday office materials. The concept and proposal stage was exciting as we brainstormed an abundance of interesting ideas for various office materials and accessories. Once it was decided that rubber bands were to be our material, we began experimenting. 40,000 rubber bands and 100+ hours later, the rubber bands, resembling pressurized carbon compounds underneath the Earth, formed an entirely new geology of striped color and texture along the walls.
